With the end of summer and the smell of fall in the air, the annual tradition of football is once again a part of our weekend ritual. Whether you’re a regular at a Saints game, part of the festivities on the Grove at Ole Miss or rooting for alma maters like Mississippi State or LSU, we embrace the new season with a passion rarely seen in other sports.  Opening The Flora Butcher brought some very nostalgic memories from my high school football days in Louisiana when we would come up to play the very capable team at Flora’s Tri County Academy. So with that in mind, we’ve created a delicious Tri County inspired tailgate menu guaranteed to satisfy. Our photos were shot on the school’s football field at the beginning of the 2017 season. One of the benefits of living in the Deep South is without question the luxury of firing up the backyard grill at will any time of year. Even so, I’ve always viewed the period between July 4th and Labor Day as the official grilling season. School is out for the summer, it’s a time for vacations, family time and backyard gatherings around the grill with family and friends building lasting memories.  more
Recognizing and honoring both our maternal and paternal heritage has been a part of both my personal and professional life as far back as I can remember.  My mother has been my culinary inspiration since I was a child. She is a wonderful cook and many of my recipes today are based on her talents in the kitchen.  more
